THE NATURE OF GOD A. Three in One In the Bible we find a number of texts speaking of God as being made up of three Beings - the Father, the Son, and the Spirit: Matthew 3:16,17 At Jesus's baptism we see the Persons of the Godhead separated by space. Matthew 28:19,20 We are instructed by Jesus to baptise people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jude 20,21 Again the three Persons of the Godhead are mentioned individually, with a different emphasis on each one. (See also:- Genesis 1:2 Psalm 2:6-12 Isaiah 9:6,7.) However, despite these texts, God is still "One": Deuteronomy 4:35 Beside God there is no other. Deuteronomy 6:4 The Lord our God is one Lord. 1 Kings 8:60 The Lord is God and there is no other. (See also:- Mark 12:29-32 1 Corinthians 8:4-6.) B. Characteristics of God 1. ETERNITY Psalm 90:2 ... from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
